Agricultural High School and today has a student population of approximately
1430 students.

ROLE
DESCRIPTION:
The holder of this position will work as a member
of the Home Economics / Food Technology / Hospitality team at BallaratHigh
School, undertaking a range of tasks including
cleaning of the kitchens and pantry areas, ordering of food products, receiving
the deliveries of food and appropriate storage of food products. They would be
also be responsible for the set up of trolleys for practical
sessions.
As an ESO staff member, the range of duties may
be expanded in the future in accordance with the ESO Range 1 General
Duties.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Cleaning
Duties:
·Collect dish cloths / tea towels, soak, wash and dry. Clean lint filter
in dryer as required.
· Re-stock dish cloth supplies when
clean.
·Soak and rinse brushes and sponges. Re-stock supplies when
clean.
· Clean and sanitise hand wash basins. Replenish soap and towel supplies
as required.
· Wipe clean stove tops, grills and ovens. Remove and replace trivets as
required. Replace foil if required.
· Wipe clean and sanitize bench
tops.
·Replenish detergent supplies to 1/3
full.
·Check all large and small equipment items and clean if
required.
· Return all items to correct storage
areas.
· Wipe clean tables in dining room as
required.
· Each term - additional cleaning of stoves, equipment, benches,
cupboards etc.
Food Orders / Handling /
Storage:
· Receive incoming food deliveries / orders. Check quantities and
quality. Store all items in cool room, fridges, freezers, pantry etc., as
appropriate.
· Place food orders with relevant
suppliers.
· Set out ingredients for day’s classes as per teachers’
requirements.
· Place left over ingredients from days classes in appropriate storage
facilities.
· Defrost meat and other products, as
required.
· Refill sugar/flour/rice etc containers, as
required.
· Check food stocks and dispose of any out of date or deteriorated
items.

CRITERIA:
Applicants are requested to present a written response to the key
selection criteria below:

Demonstrated experience in the food industry, and a good knowledge of
food handling safety standards.
2.0
An ability to communicate effectively, including a demonstrated high
level of interpersonal skills when relating to staff, students, parents and the
wider school community.
3.0
Demonstrated ability to follow direction, display initiative and work
independently.
4.0
Demonstrated ability to utilise basic office equipment, including
photocopiers, facsimile and some
experience in the use of email, internet and MS
Word.
5.0
Demonstrated commitment and capacity to actively uphold the School Values
and positively contribute to a broad range of School activities as a member of
the Food Technology / Home Economics team.
6.0
Hold, or be willing to undertake a Certificate IV in Food Safety for Food
Handlers. Motor vehicle drivers licence and own car would also be an
advantage.
OTHER
INFORMATION:
This role may be divided into two roles or remain
combined as described above. The cleaning component would be 13 hours per week
(EFT 0.34) and be undertaken mostly outside class times. The food
ordering/handling component would be 10 hours per week (EFT 0.26) and be
undertaken each school day morning from
8.30am.
Some flexibility may be required to accommodate
changing school timetables.
The successful applicant will be required to hold
a Working with Children Card.
